The Flathead Indians, part of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai tribes, were initially given the name by Europeans who had traveled through Salish lands which were east of the Rocky Mountains.
Bozeman Montana was the home of the Bozeman Roundup, which was one of the most significant events in the northwest and attracted thousands of visitors during the 1920s.
Other pictorial history exists of the Salish and other tribes, under the banner of the Flatheads, at Bozeman and by Stephenson, Miles City who may have been a photographer of the Bozeman Roundup events.
