Product Overview: Brown glazed phosphatic glazed stoneware or Huang-tao ware made during the Tang dynasty period during the eighth and ninth centuries were primarily produced in the province of Henan, China. The blue splashed glazes were often applied after the glazing process. This attractive free form example acquired from a published New York Chinese ceramics dealer during the 1980’s may be compared to similar glazed examples at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts from the Ruth and Bruce Dayton collection. 96.51 and most notably Christies Sale 2553, Lot 1959
